Description | The giant cantilevered T Hub -II building demonstrates not only contemporary capabilities of steel but also new concept of creating extraordinary structures without compromising architecture intent. The unique design of cantilever structure, pushes forward the physical possibilities of design & construction, challenges the attractive forces and breaks down stereotypes. The evolving non-conventional design, use of innovative construction technologies and materials enables to increase the application of cantilever structures.
T Hub -II is built on 3.12 acres comprising of 2B+G+11 floors. The form of the building has a dual skin façade as a protection from sun’s harmful radiation and to accommodate green spaces inside the building.
Another feature of the form is the double skin façade over the cantilevers thus protecting those levels from direct sun and providing shade for the transparent plazas. It has 2m offset from the building. The skin has an expanded aluminium mesh. The extended portions of the façade contains smoking zones, landscape emergency exits which implies that the façade contribute to the structure functionally as well. The structural design and engineering of T HUB, the balanced large cantilever building is of high order; one it being non-conventional structure with large cantilever all around the building, other to have efficient working space, architectural geometry, hindrance free circulation. The multiple structural solutions are explored before finalising “The current structural solution” which is unique. The substructure is in RCC with four central hollow RCC core walls, having plan dimensions 11.6m X 9m, which supports the entire cantilever superstructure building from ground level onwards. The superstructure constructed in steel consist of two virtual boxes. The lower box comprising of second and third floor, is separated from double height ground level by only RCC cores. The upper box having four floors is separated from lower box at fourth level by only RCC cores. Each floor has 34m cantilever on North side, 26m cantilever on South side, 9m cantilever on East and West sides. These cantilevers start at 14m height from Ground level. |
